The 1819 edition of the Xin'an County Gazetteer does not yet contain the name Ho Man Tin; the settlement here formed later.
From the mid-twentieth century Ho Man Tin developed as a residential district, with schools, hospitals and public estates shaping the neighbourhood of today.
